Halloween 2007

It's time again for the world's greatest celebration of freeloading and panhandling -- Halloween. This is a special time of the year when kids of all walks of life -- not just poor kids -- can unashamedly knock on neighbors' doors and beg for food.

But Halloween isn't just for kids. Adults experience the joy of giving. Grown-ups can feel good about themselves, knowing that at least one of the kids who stopped by trick or treating was probably poverty stricken and those two miniature tootsie rolls are more than enough to make up for looking the other way while we pass the soup kitchen on the way to work.

This holiday season, VGG.COM proudly presents our tribute to Halloween

First off, take a look at what you will need to make your Haunted House Complete.

Need a few ideas for that pumpkin carving contest check out these scary and sick Jack O' Lantern Designs.

If you want to collect your fair share of pity candy this Halloween, you might want to consider these tips for Pity Candy Costumes.

If all that were not enough to keep an ample amount of chili in your trousers this Halloween then read the Van Gogh-Goghs' Find and Replace Classic: The Raven.

MP3 Monday - Blog Action Day!?

This is a sick joke, right?
It's Blog Action Day!!! Today thousands of blogs are blogging about the enviroment. Somehow, this will make it all better. *cough*

Sooooooo. We'll see how well that works out. Meantime, to join in the useless fun, Here's a catchy environmental ditty about the evils of aerosol cans "Whatcha Gonna Do When The Ozone Goes." Sung by Tommy Nations, it's from a 45 I found at a thrift store.

MP3 Monday - It's Simchat Torah, Charlie Brown!

It's Simchat Torah!!! Or was Friday, anyway. Think there aren't any songs about this particular Jewish holiday? Think again, chump! We got for you the 1984 song "Children, Today is Simchat Torah," from a set of 45s by Graded Press; Bible Festivals: Today and Long Ago. On Simchat Torah, Jews celebrate finishing reading and studying the Torah, only to start all over again! No, they don't even take a day off in between, they finish up Deuteronomy, and go straight back into Genesis! This is why Jews are not known for their partying abilities.

WTF Friday - Mac N Cheese/Spaghetti Moat!

SpaghettiMoatMeal.JPG
As halloween nears, we will delve into the macabre, the evil, the... inedible! This is from an old recipe pamphlet from the fine folks at Kraft (don't sue us!). This Frankenstinian creation appears to be nothing more than good ole mac & cheese dumped in a bowl of spaghetti sauce, then sprinkled with olives for no reason. Oh, wait there is a reason: THERE IS NO REASON. Did moms in the 1960s really spend time carefully sculpting their lumps of mac & cheese so the corners were perfectly square to match the bowl, so that the mac & cheese was carefully protected from all invaders by a deep and unappetizing moat of purest tomato sauce!? No one shall take these way-too-carefully sliced olive slices without a fight! Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more, Or close the wall up with our English dead!
