Just a guitarRock fiction has only been recently recognized as a full-fledged genre. In this new and yet unstudied area, where published reference works and journals fail to yet exist, the Internet and online resources are there to provide information. The majority of sources for this topic are magazine articles and lists in the new social network websites, where users come together to produce lists on all imaginable topics.

This is an excellent, well-annotated list of rock fiction novels. It is divided up into various subcategories, including punk rock novels, rock music in science fiction, indie and alternative rock novels, the rock industry (record labels, A&R, promoters), and amateur/garage band novels. Author, title, year published and a short description.

In 2009, Lewis & Clark English professor Pauls Toutonghi. taught the course "The Rock and Roll Novel." This interview with professor Toutonghi mentions many rock fiction novels, the response of students and faculty to the course, and concludes with the class playlist.
